National BBQ week and time to get your flame on

National BBQ week and time to get your flame on

Thousands of you will be getting your flame on in celebration of National BBQ Week between 5 July and 18 July.

WHY CELEBRATE NATIONAL BBQ WEEK WITH GETTING YOUR FLAME ON

In the UK around 1.5 million fires are lit for the traditional BBQ each year.

Just like in the recent Euros football, this relegates Germany to second place. Phew!

This means we now BBQ at least 10 times over the Summer.

During the bank holiday in 2020 alone, approximately 15 million fires were lit.

WORTHY OF GETTING YOUR FLAME ON SURELY

The overall BBQ market was worth around £1.7 billion in 2020. This is up from £150 million in 1997.

As a result of lockdown BBQing is now the number one thing for people to do in the UK.

Statistics also show that:

  • One in two of us now own a BBQ
  • The average spend on a BBQ is now £42.50
  • Around 30 per cent of households also include meat-free dishes
  • Chicken continues to be the number one BBQ food at 19%, followed by burgers 18%.
  • Sausages have slipped to 14%, with kebabs rising to 11% and steak steady at 10%
  • Fish has increased to 9%, whilst lamb and pork share 6%

Vegetables represent the biggest increase (43%) to 19%

THAT IS A LOT OF BBQ FLAME ON TO BE PROUD OF

In M’s Kitchen we go Flame On right through the year.

WHY

  • We love a good flame – it is therapy for the soul staring at the bush TV away from our devices
  • Our Southern African heritage makes us curious – how we can adapt traditional recipes using locally sourced products
  • In M’s Kitchen we love little twists – making recipes leaner on the waistline, additive and where possible, gluten- and allergen free
  • We believe BBQ Flame On food is for everyone – thus we include a number of vegetarian and vegan dishes as standard
  • Choosing to live by our NBP – No Bull Promise – we use locally sourced, seasonal and fresh ingredients.
